For Absolute Beginners
by Douglas Block & Demetra George
This is my top recommendation if you’re just starting out. Block and George walk you through your personal chart and explain the basic vocabulary of astrology. Think of astrology as learning a new language — this book helps you master the keywords before you move on to crafting full “sentences” in astrological interpretation.
You can use it for yourself, your family, or friends to get a solid foundation in the essentials.
Understanding Archetypes and Purpose
by Steven Forrest
Steven Forrest’s work resonates deeply with me. This book covers the archetypes of the signs, planets, and houses — and also explores their highest and shadow expressions. He takes a modern, evolutionary approach, which asks: Why do you have the chart you have?
